Wildlife could be one of Nigeria’s greatest industries - watch our new video with Mayorkun

Mayorkun, one of Africa’s biggest Afrobeat stars, and WildAid have joined forces in a new video to help raise awareness about the illegal bushmeat and wildlife trade in Nigeria.

In January 2022, WildAid launched a massive public awareness conservation campaign in Nigeria called #NigeriaForWildlife to reduce demand for illegal bushmeat in major urban centers, support enforcement activities to tackle the illegal wildlife trade and raise awareness of disappearing wildlife, using the slogans “Keep them wild, keep us safe” and “Poaching steals from us all.”

“Music is one of Nigeria’s greatest exports. But wildlife could be another great industry if we protect it for future generations,” says Mayorkun.

Mayorkun recently joined WildAid as one of our ambassadors for our #NigeriaForWildlife campaign, adding his voice to raise awareness against illegal bushmeat.

“Right now, Nigeria’s wildlife is threatened by the illegal wildlife trade. So please, report wildlife crime and say no to illegal bushmeat, because poaching steals from us all,” says Mayorkun.
