WildAid is excited to announce the signing of a new wildlife ambassador, Kenyan footballer Victor Wanyama. Victor is a professional footballer with CF Montreal and a former captain of the Kenyan national team. He is the first Kenyan ever to score a goal in the Champions League and has played for Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton in the English Premier League. He joins Kenyan stars Lupita Nyong’o and Eliud Kipchoge in urging fellow Kenyans, Africans and the world to protect wildlife and end the illegal wildlife trade.
Victor believes that wildlife is more valuable alive, and he joins WildAid to speak out against illegal wildlife trafficking. Look out for more content with Victor and other football stars in our upcoming campaign, launching this year.
WildAid is an international wildlife conservation NGO that specializes in mass media campaigns to protect wildlife, including elephants, rhinos, lions and pangolins, that are threatened by illegal trade. The illegal wildlife trade is a multi-billion-dollar global industry largely driven by consumer demand in expanding economies. While many wildlife conservation groups focus on scientific studies and anti-poaching efforts, WildAid works to reduce global consumption of wildlife products and to increase local support for conservation efforts.
